This may seem like a strange question but of what religous back round are you? I only ask because some ideas presented in the noble warrior series are similar to that of beliefs held by mine own religion. I hold no prejudce aganist those of other beliefs, i just like to know the different beliefs of people around the world.

William Nicholson responded:

Not a strange question at all. My biography is on this website - but to summarise: I was raised as a Roman Catholic, but gradually stopped believing in the teachings of the church, or Christianity, in my early twenties. I am still a great admirer of the ethical basis of Christianity, and very sympathetic to the religious impulse. But since then I have been, I suppose, searching but not finding any sure answers to religious questions. Hence the fantasy explorations in my books.

hi william Nicholson i loved the wind on fire series but i am asking you to comment on my story which i made.

William Nicholson responded:

I loved your story. You give excellent detail and you understand the key to story telling, which is that the reader needs to know not only what happens but what the characters are feeling about what happens. Your mum's nervousness becomes the way we share the experience of your safari. I hope you don't mind, but I've not put the story on my site because of length.

Hello - I recently came across one of your books, Seeker. My 12 year old daughter is an avid reader (as am I) and reads everything from biographies to fantasy to newspaper articles. I was wondering who your target audience was when writing this series. I'm starting it now and it's really great, but I bought it with the intention of giving it to her and buying the rest of the series if she liked it (I usually read a book first if it's a new author to us). Thanks so much in advance for your thoughts & input. Regards, Tanya

William Nicholson responded:

My first target audience was of course myself. My publishers reckon the Noble Warriors trilogy, of which Seeker is the first, is best suited to readers aged 12 and up. I find that readers who've read and liked my Wind on Fire trilogy, which they tend to start at age 10, get on well with the Noble Warriors. They are more demanding books, in their themes. My hope is that readers will enjoy them and find more and more in them (there's plenty in there) if they come to them at any time in their teens. I hope this helps.

I love your books and can relate to the characters so easily. It is easy to get in the story and journey with them. I hope you will be writing more books, especially fantasy books. I have a short question. It is true that it is harder to write for children than for adults? Greetings from Pamela The Netherlands

William Nicholson responded:

I don't think it's harder to write for children - it's all very much the same - by which I mean, it's all hard. Because I tend to write fantasy for children, the burden falls on my imagination, which makes it tremendous fun but also quite challenging. My novels for grown-ups tend to be more realistic, and require more research. But in the end it's all my mind stretching itself.

Hi William, My name is Farhad Zaiwala. I am a Sydney based actor of Indian origin and I recently found out that you are penning the screenplay for Alex von Tunzelmann's 'Indian Summer' to be directed by Joe Wright. I have grown up on Indian history and the British Raj and would really love to be part of the production in the capacity of an actor. If you could kindly pass on my details to either Joe Wright or the casting directors, I'll be always be indebted by your kindness. Do look forward to your reply. Regards, Farhad

William Nicholson responded:

This production is currently shelved, I'm afraid. At this point I don't know when, or whether, it will be resurrected.

Hi, You may have already answered this question, but do you have plans for any other fantasy young adult books for the future? Could you give as a teaser if you do? Thanks

William Nicholson responded:

I am at work on a new book, which may be several books, that combines fantasy and reality. I don't want to say any more now, though I can give the title: ANGELUS.
