Hello: What is the status of your screenplay on the Norman Conquest of England? Are you aware of Robin Jacob's film - 1066 - now in production? Jacob's film is based on Helen Hollick's novel, which was a disappointment to me because of her simplistic, one-sided portrayal of William. For many years I, too, have been obsessed with writing about this era. But because William's story is so complex (beginning with Queen Emma!), I have developed it into a screenplay trilogy. I don't know about the Robin Jacob production, though I believe my producers do. I'm just completing the third draft of my version. Beyond that, it will be in the hands of the producers. They seem very excited so far, so I live in hope. If it ever does get made, the earliest release date would be 2011.

Hi! The wind on fire trilogy have been my favorite books since the first time I read them as a 7th grader four year ago. I've read each novel many times and I never re read books. I know that nothing I ever read will compare to this series. I would love to be able to talk to you someday although I doubt this will ever happen considering you live in England and I live in Pennsylvania. However, if you ever choose to visit the US if you could somehow let me know that would be amazing. Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't see myself being in Pennsylvania any time soon. I may be over in the States to publicise my new book, towards the end of next year. Not sure right now. I'll certainly give details on this site if I come. Meantime, have you tried my second trilogy, the Noble Warriors? You might like it.

Hello again, I wrote a few days ago and told you I loved your movie Firelight and that it was on netflix. If you go to Amazon.com you may be pleased to see it is being sold to rave reviews, I didn't read them all but mostly americans I think, I am from Oregon and got sort of obsessed with the movie recently when it popped up when I joined netfix. I had sort of forgotten it, as I had seen it years ago and loved it then. So, maybe I am right and it is growing on people. Thanks again for all the enjoyment you have brought with your work. .

Dear Mr. Nicholson Just to get this out of the wat first, I think ur fantasy novles are epic,esp The Wind singer. I came to ask you about your desire of writing as I'm in the middle of a course that involves contacting people about our dream job roles, one of mine being a screenwriter, to achieve this, would it be necessary to write a novel myself before I go ahead writing scrips? Thank you for your time.

No, not at all. The two are very different. If you're dream is screenwriting, go ahead and write for the screen. The best training for it is watching movies, to be honest.

I love the movie Firelight. You wrote and directed it. Were you pleased with it? I think it is visually (cinematograpically speaking) a gorgeous film, with compelling story, beautiful music and fine fine acting. It is onNetflix. (someone asked where to get a DVD) You said it was not critically well received. ( can imagine, "too melodramatic" or some such...) Will it grow on people, do you think-there is so much to enjoy. I was glad to track down your website and find you have written so many other great film stories, thank you.

Yes, the critical response was that it was melodrama. Will it grow on people? I can only hope so. Thanks for telling me about Netflix. I'll now get a DVD of my own at last.
